This gorgeous baby boy visited the portrait studio in Coventry last month. If you could have seen my smile as Daddy pulled back the little blanket to show me their little newborn boy curled up in the car seat. The hair! He seriously looked like a perfect little doll. I loved that his parents loved his natural hair and didn’t try to brush it or smooth it down. He came into the world with the best trendiest hairstyle ever. I hope he manages to keep the rock and roll hair as he grows up. What made this newborn portrait session even more special was Daddy had brought a car full of props! Even though I have a studio full it’s always nice when parents are enthusiastic to make their newborn photography session special. Daddy had brought his football trainers and football as he is a semi-professional footballer (thankfully the boots were super clean) A beautiful vintage car, and a traditional Indian drum. I wish I had known as I wouldn’t have needed to set up my props. This little one was super alert at five days new and seriously didn’t want to sleep for the first part of the session. Parents always worry that their baby will not sleep at their newborn session but I have been doing this over nearly 12 years and in all of those years I can tell you one thing for sure. They eventually drift off to sleep even if they prefer to fight it at first. With all of the soothing techniques I use, the sound of a heartbeat in the background, the warmth of the studio the scent of lavender in the air, how can they not?
