HOW TO PREPARE FOR YOUR CAKE SMASH

IMPORTANT TIP

Before your cake smash photo shoot session, we will discuss when will be the best time to have your Cake Smash. If your baby is tired when they attend their cake smash and splash they really won’t feel like having their photograph taken and they certainly won’t want to eat the cake! It is important to remember that if  baby is tired they will be quite miserable and will want to sleep! Therefore we will try and avoid having the session during the times that they usually sleep during the day.

WHAT TO BRING WITH YOU TO THE CAKE SMASH

First of all, don’t forget the cake!
Please let me know a few days before your session the colour of your cake so that I can coordinate the background, balloons and banners.

Clothing to wear for the actual cake smash.

You might like to bring one or two outfits for the ‘clean portraits prior to the cake smash.

A picnic/snack and juice for your little one to snack on.

Bubble bath that you usually use for baby’s bathtime.

A towel for after baby’s splash time in the bath.

Sometimes parents can get a little cake mess on their clothes due to the baby getting messy with the cake so you might like to bring yourselves a change of clothing to save your car seats from getting messy!

Please bring anything that you would like in the pictures. Some parents bring personalised birthday banners with their baby’s name on them.

We will have already discussed your preferred colour theme, when you arrive at the studio we will be ready for us to start shooting straight away.

WHAT HAPPENS DURING THE SESSION

  1. We will start with the clean portrait shots. If baby is happy we will try and do at least two or three different outfit changes and a few different prop shots before the actual cake smash.

  2. If you would like parent/sibling shots we will do these before the cake smash. This way everyone is still nice and clean!

  3.  Cake Smash time! This is where we will usually laugh at the expressions of your little ones when they realise they are allowed to smash the cake. Something that they have not been allowed to do before!

  4. Bath and splash time! We finish the cake smash photoshoot with a lovely warm bubble bath. Sorry, the bath is for babies only not parents! (even though you will possibly need one when you get home) Parents sometimes do tend to get a little messy too so please do bring a change of clothes for yourselves to change into.
