Dear Wonderful (but Probably Exhausted) Parents,
So, it’s 3 AM, and your little angel has decided that sleep is for the weak. You’ve tried everything – the rocking, the singing, and maybe even that interpretive dance number you swore you’d never show anyone. Now you’re staring at your phone, contemplating cancelling tomorrow’s newborn session because, let’s face it, you look like you’ve been through a zombie apocalypse.
Plot Twist: Tired Babies are Photography Gold! Here’s the ironic thing that 14 years of photography experience has taught me: those babies who’ve kept their parents up all night? They’re usually my best little models! It’s like they’ve got all their party energy out and are ready for their close-up. Think of it as their way of apologizing for the midnight disco party.
Your Only Job? Channel Your Inner Sleeping Beauty
When you arrive at my studio, you have my full permission to do… absolutely nothing. Seriously. The studio is your sanctuary:
β’ Perfect temperature (I’ve been heating it all night just for you)
β’ Soothing lavender scent (much better than eau de baby spit-up)
β’ Comfy seating that’s practically begging for a power nap
β’ Zero judgment if you start snoring (I’ve heard it all!)

Behind the Scenes: The Pre-Session Prep Show
- Many parents actually catch some Z’s during the session. Think of it as a spa day, just with more baby poses and less cucumber slices on your eyes.
While you were doing your nocturnal baby marathon, I was busy:
β’ Getting the studio toasty warm (my heating bill says “ouch”)
β’ Organizing props, matching hats to wraps and blankets (it’s like Tetris, but with tiny hats)
β’ Sanitizing everything (because babies love to taste-test props)
β’ Blocking out several hours exclusively for your little star
When there’s a last-minute cancellation, it’s not just a schedule gap – it’s a tiny hat tragedy! Plus, another family missed their chance at newborn photos (these babies grow faster than my coffee gets cold).
The Time-Sensitive Nature of Newborn Photography. These newborn days are fleeting – one minute they’re all curled up like a little bean, the next they’re refusing to wear anything but a Superman costume. The ideal window for newborn photography is 5-14 days after birth, when they’re still in that adorably squish-able stage
